How much should an acting class cost?
Ongoing scene study in a major market is usually billed monthly rather than per session, so compare monthly figures, not headline session prices. A single private hour with a coach costs more than a whole week of group class. Be wary of anyone asking for a large sum up front, or who will only quote you a price after a phone call.
Do I need a school, a studio, or a private coach?
A coach works on you specifically and is the fastest way to fix one thing. A studio gives you a regular room, scene partners and repetition. A school gives you a curriculum and a schedule. Most working actors have used all three at different points, for different reasons.
Is a conservatory degree worth it?
It buys three or four years of daily training and a company of peers, which is very hard to assemble on your own. It does not buy you an agent or a career. Weigh it against what the same money buys in class time, coaching and equipment over the same years.
Why is my state not listed?
We have not checked enough listings there yet. We would rather show you nothing than show you coaches we have not verified.
Class is one half of it.
