The Self-Tape Slate

A slate identifies you. Unless the production says otherwise, that is your name and the role you are reading, delivered as yourself rather than in character, and kept short. Some notices ask for extra items — height, location, agent, a profile turn, or a separate slate file — and where they do, their instruction always overrides the general habit. Read the notice before you record the slate, not after.
